Therapy with Couples, Parents, Families
Couple and family therapists evaluate and treat mental and emotional disorders, as well as health and behavioral problems in a relational context, as well as addressing a wide array of relationship issues within the context of the family system.
In addition to helping interpersonal distress and conflicts, research studies repeatedly demonstrate the effectiveness of couple and family therapy in treating mental and emotional disorders and health problems, including depression, anxiety disorders, adolescent drug abuse, alcoholism, eating disorders and obesity. Interventions are often brief and solution-focused, improving communication, support and listening between family members. Sometimes, work with a couples therapist or parent coach is in conjunction with other psychological or psychiatric treatments.
